Media Buffs is an online community bringing people together to engage in conversations about various media such as movies and television shows.
Media influences virtually every aspect of culture. Oftentimes, the line between reality and what is shown on screen gets blurred, resulting in both conscious and subconscious adoption of what we see. Remember the last film that made you change your mind about a particular issue or made you feel inspired to do something bold in your life that you otherwise would not? Think about a television program that enables you to experience life through the eyes of someone else or expose you to different cultures that challenge your worldview.
Without a doubt, media affects our perceptions and therefore, our way of life. This is achieved by way of media messaging, which can either be apparent or subliminal. Our understanding of the world is constantly molded by these messages and yet, many people neglect to have meaningful conversations about them. Too many people give into what we call the passive viewing of media and this type of media consumption is more often done in isolation. Once a movie or tv episode has concluded, it can be difficult to find people who are both interested in what you are watching and is willing to set aside time to talk about it. We want to change that.

We do this by connecting you with people who enjoy the same media you do and fostering conversations that are fun, challenging, thought-provoking, or even amusing at times. These conversations are what lead to a greater understanding of ourselves and the world around us.

One of our favorite things to do is give back to our amazing community. Thanks to our fully integrated point system, we are able to determine who the most active members are so that we can reward them with gift cards, cash prizes and more!
Members can earn points in a variety of ways but mainly by engaging with other community members. Then we select the members with the greatest number of points (accumulated within the past month) as our winners. Giveaways are hosted every single month and for different media categories. That means members have more than one opportunity to win! The best part is no luck is required. Just keep earning points by engaging with fellow community members.
In addition to monthly prizes, we are offering the Media Buffs community a special grand prize to show how much we value our members. We are now offering our members an opportunity to win an entire house that is fully paid for!

Impartial moderators means no unfair censorship. Our moderators are required to pass detailed fairness and inclusiveness tests. Afterwards, an in-person interview is conducted before deciding who is most qualified to be a Media Buffs moderator.

We select three winners at the end of every month. The member with the most engagement points at the end of the month is the 1st place winner and will win the higher of the two category prizes. The member with the second most engagement points is the 2nd place winner and will win the lower of the two category prizes. The member with the third most engagement points is the 3rd place winner and will be awarded 1,000 key points!
Please Note: Only engagement points earned within the past month will be considered. This is to ensure that members have an equal opportunity to win each month.
The prize level will be determined by the total number of category members at the end of the month. If there are less than 80 category members, then the category prize will be 1,000 key points added to the winner’s KPS balance. Also, every category prize winner will receive an exclusive Media Buffs t-shirt!

We are always searching for the best movies and tv shows to start a conversation about. Now you can request your favorite new media be added as a conversation block, if not already added.
*Please Note: We only accept requests for media being produced within the current year. This includes movies and shows released this year or older shows that are still ongoing. If your request meets these requirements, then we will make the conversation block available (usually within one week). If it is not added after 7 days, please contact us.
